Hurricane season again.


With the beginning of a new hurricane season, we're reminded of August 14th, 2005, the morning after hurricane Charley ripped through Central Florida, leaving the Kissimmee Airport with some minor repairs to do. One of our building inspectors snapped this shot only hours after the storm passed.

I think I smell a rat.


This is a sure sign no one has been in the storage room for a while. Besides being disgusting on its own merits, it signifies chronic neglect and heralds a host of other problems.

One of the last things you'd hope to find in an attic.


Downtown Orlando: Faced with a leaky roof, the prior owners of this structure decided putting a kiddie pool on the rafters to catch the water would be a cheaper alternative to fixing the roof. Already bent out of shape, the pool threatens to buckle completely, soaking the insulation and destroying the ceiling below.
